KONOPIO - NONSURGICAL RHINOPLASTY
KONOPIO is the latest material used for non-surgical rhinoplasty. It is safe and absorbable. It can achieve almost what implants (ie Silicone or Goretex) in surgical rhinoplasty can attain, and what threads and fillers cannot do (ie lift or project the tip). It is the newest innovation to come out of South Korea, the cosmetic surgery capital.
A revolutionary breakthrough in nose reshaping, it is an advanced PDO-based (polydioxanone) technology especially developed for KONOPIO alone. PDO is a synthetic, bio-absorbable, monofilament polymer, primarily used in medical applications like sutures and implants. It degrades over time through hydrolysis, typically within six (6) months for nose threads but two (2) years for KONOPIO, and is known for its flexibility, strength, and biocompatibility.
It does not require surgery to be inserted. It is done under local anesthesia. A G19 needle prick is then made over the tip where the material is inserted. KONOPIO can be tailored into different lengths, thus is able to selectively lift/augment either the nose bridge, supratip, tip or any combination of the 3 nose areas. Patient can go home immediately after the 30-minute procedure.
Unlike nose fillers, which carry risks for blindness or skin necrosis, KONOPIO is safe and can give better and more natural results (also compared to nose threads).
In the Philippines, KONOPIO will be launched in August 2025. Dr. Al Farabi L. Jaafar is only one (1) of four (4) surgeons who were officially trained (pioneer) in Seoul Korea and will be using this material for natural non-surgical rhinoplasty. Dr. Jaafar will also be the KOL (key opinion leader) for KONOPIO and will be teaching surgeons (workshops) in the Philippines once it is introduced.
